Quinta do Lago was for the first time nominated “the best golf resort in Portugal” on the “2015 Today’s Golfer Travel Awards” by the magazine “Today’s Golfer”. It is reason to say that the continuous effort of the management of Quinta do Lago to improve and keep its five star resort neat as new, has proven to be worthwhile and successful.

Being already leader in family luxury resorts in Europe, it has known a double success as well in the first edition of the World Golf Awards.

Quinta do Lago has invested 29 million euros since 2009 to make sure it would stay among the cutting edge Golf scene worldwide. 9.6 million euros alone were allocated to redesign the worldwide renowned North Course, conceived by Paul McGinley (Captain winner of the European Ryder Cup) and the American architect Beau Welling.

But this is not the end of it! Quinta do Lago still has plenty to celebrate. Along with being awarded the prize of “Best golf resort in Portugal”, its South Course was also designated as the “Best Golf Course in Portugal” and the region of Algarve was chosen as the “Best Value Golf Destination in Europe” by the readers of the magazine.

The new North Course, one of the 3 golf courses for world competitions, was designated “Best New European Golf Course “ when the resort hosted the first edition of the World Golf Awards in November 2014. In that same event, the South Course was awarded the title of “Best Golf Course in Portugal”. Recognizing the immense value of the setting, the ceremony of the World Golf Awards will take place in Quinta do Lago, Algarve, this fall once again. As proof of its hard and fruitful work, Quinta do Lago has also signed an exclusivity contract with England Golf to be its national teams’ winter training base for the next four years. In the meantime, the resort has invested in improving its training facilities with the opening of a new area for short game – including the Paul McGinley Golf Academy and a cutting edge TaylorMade Performance Center – the only facilities of the kind in Southern Europe.

Stretching across 809 hectares within the Ria Formosa Natural Park, Quinta do Lago has carved its place among the top destinations of Golf in Europe for over forty years. Away from the courses, the resort offers a vast set of activities including events, tennis, biking, water sports, birding, and many others. All of those under gorgeous blue skies with bright sun, since the Algarve enjoys an average of 300 days of Sun per year.
